APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO REGULAR PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2019/2020 ACADEMIC SESSION

 

Application forms for admission into the Kogi State Polytechnic’s regular Programmes for the 2019/2020 Academic session are now on sale. The Polytechnic offers the following courses:-

 

1.0 SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

Higher National Diploma in:

a. Accountancy

b. Business Administration

c. Public Administration

d. Office Technology and Management

e. Library and Information Science

1.1 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

a. Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (Two Years)

Candidates must possess National Diploma in Accounting and related programmes and must have a minimum of lower credit (CGPA) of 2.50 and five credits at 0/L (NECO, WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEC) at not more than two sittings which must include English Language and Mathematics. In addition, candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year compulsory Industrial Training or a pass in ND result with 2 Years compulsory Industrial Training attachment. ND Transcript is required for admission into all HND programmes, especially for candidates from other institutions.

b. Higher National Diploma in Business Administration (Two Years)

Same as (1.1a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Business

Studies and related Programmes.

 

c. Higher National Diploma in Public Administration (Two Years)

Same as (1.1a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Public Administration and at least a credit pass in Government or Civic Education at the O’level.

 

d. Higher National Diploma in Office Technology Management (Two Years)

Same as (1.1a) above, but qualification must be National Diploma in Office Technology and Management.

 

e. Higher National Diploma in Library and Information Science (Two Years)

Same as (1.1a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Library and Information Science and at least a credit pass in one science subject at the O’level.

2.0 SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCES

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN

a. Statistics

b. Science Laboratory Technology

c. Computer Science

2.1 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

a. Higher National Diploma in Statistics (Two Years)

Candidates must possess National Diploma in Statistics and must have a minimum of lower credit (CGPA) of 2.50 and five credits at O/L (NECO/WASC/GCE/NABTEC) at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric Science. In Addition, candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year compulsory Industrial Training or a pass in ND result with two years Industrial Training. ND Transcript is required for admission into all HND programmes, especially for candidates from other institutions.

 

b. Higher National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology (Two Years)

With options in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Environmental Biology. Same as (2.1a) but qualification must be National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology.

 

c. Higher National Diploma in Computer Science (Two Years)

Candidates must possess National Diploma in Computer Science and must have a minimum of lower credit (CGPA) of 2.50 and five credits at O/L (NECO/WASC/GCE/NABTEB TECHNICAL TRADE) at not more than two sittings. English Language, Mathematics and Physics are compulsory at credit level. A credit in any other Science Subject and Social Science subject is also required, with one (1) year compulsory Industrial training or a pass in ND result with two years compulsory Industrial Training.

3.0 SCHOOL OF ART DESIGN AND PRINTING

(i) Higher National Diploma programme (HND) in Industrial Design with options in Graphics, Textiles and Ceramics.

(ii) Higher National Diploma Programme (HND) in Fine Arts with Options in Painting and Sculpture.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for the Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in Industrial Design with Options in Graphics, Textiles and Ceramics must possess the following:

 

(a) A minimum of Lower Credit (CGPA) of 2.50 and five credits at O/L (NECO, WASC/SSCE/NABTEB) at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Fine Arts or Visual Arts, Chemistry, Geography, History, Biology, Literature in English, Clothing and Textiles, Religious Knowledge and any other Sciences. In addition, candidates must have a minimum of One (1) year compulsory Industrial training or a pass in ND result with Two (2) years compulsory Industrial Training.

(b) Higher National Diploma Programme (HND) in Fine Arts with Options in Painting and Sculpture.

Same as (3a) above.

 

4.0 SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

4.1 Higher National Diploma in Mineral Resources Engineering (Two Years)

With Options in the following:

a. Mining Engineering Technology

b. Geological Engineering Technology

c. Mineral Processing Engineering Technology

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must possess National Diploma in Mineral Resources Engineering with a minimum of Lower Credit and five credits at O/L (NECO/WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEC) at not more than two sittings which must include Mathematics, Chemistry and any three subjects from Metal-work, Technical–Drawing, Basic Electronics, Geography, Statistics, Additional Mathematics and English Language. Such candidates must have one year compulsory Industrial Training or a pass in ND result with two years Industrial Training.

 

4.2 Higher National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering (Two Years)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Same as (4.1a) but qualification must be National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering.

 

5.0 SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY

Higher National Diploma In:

 

Urban and Regional Planning

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

(i) Candidates must possess National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning with a minimum of Lower Credit Pass (CGPA) 2.50 and five credit passes in (NECO/WASC/NABTEC/ANTC) in relevant subject to the progamme, i.e Mathematics, English Language, Geography and two subjects from the followings; Economics, Technical Drawing, Statistics and one science subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Agric Science, Fine Art.

 

(ii) Five credits pass in relevant subjects obtained at the final examination of an NBTE recognized Preliminary-ND programme offered in a Polytechnic or similar Post-Secondary Technical Institution.

 

(iii) A minimum of One year compulsory Industrial Training and Lower Credit in ND. Candidates with a pass in ND result and two years compulsory Industrial Training are eligible for admission.

 


6.0 SCHOOL OF PRELIMINARY STUDIES (SPS)

a. One year Advanced Level (A/L) course of IJMB, Ahmadu Bello University, Samaru, Zaria in Christian Religious Studies, Geology, Government, Islamic Religious Studies. Physics, Sociology, Mathematics (Special), Chemistry, History, Accounting, Biology and Business Management.  

b. IJMB Basic English Language and Mathematics (i.e O/L English Language and Mathematics).

c. Pre-IJMB Remedy all O/Level Subject including Mathematics/English not passed at Credit Level Six (6) Months Duration.

6.1 ENTRY REQUIREMENT

a. IJMB ‘A’ Level (One Year)

Candidates must have five subjects in the SSCE, NECO or WASC at credit level which may include English Language and Mathematics, three of which must be relevant to one of the combinations offered by the school at maximum of two sittings.

b. IJMB Basic English and Mathematics (i.e O/L) (One Year)

Candidates who have attempted SSCE, NECO or WASC but could not pass English Language and Mathematics at credit levels are qualified for admission as External Candidates.

 

7.0 SCHOOL OF GENERAL STUDIES

The following programmes are being mounted in the school.

a. Pre-ND Science leading to ND Science Laboratory Technology, Statistics, Mineral Resources Engineering, Metallurgy, Architecture, Building, Surveying and Geo-Informatics and Urban and Regional Planning.

 

b. Pre-ND Art and Industrial Design leading to ND Art and Industrial Design.

 

c. Pre-ND OTM leading to ND Office Technology Management.

 

7.1 ENTRY REQUIREMENT

a. Candidates applying for any of the Pre-ND programmes must possess O/L (NECO/WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEC) with two credits and at least 3 passes which must be relevant to the specific Pre-ND programmes in any of Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Further Mathematics, Geography, Statistics, Wood work, Metal work, Auto Mechanics, Food and Nutrition, Agric Science, Economics, Commerce, Basic Electricity and Basic Electronics. A pass in English and Mathematics is required.

All applicants to Pre-ND programmes will be required to pass an entrance examination scheduled to take place on a date to be announced later.

 


8.0 EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL ADVERT

8.1 PART-TIME PROGRAMMES

a. Higher National Diploma in Business Administration (5 Semesters)

Candidates must possess National Diploma in Business Studies and related programmes and must have a minimum of Lower Credit (CGPA) of 2.50 and five credits at O/L (NECO/WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEC) which must include English Language and Mathematics. In addition, candidates must have minimum of One (1) year compulsory Industrial Training or a pass in ND result with two years Industrial Attachment.

 

b. Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (5 Semesters)

Same as in (a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Financial studies and related programmes.

 

c. Higher National Diploma in Public Administration (5 Semesters)

Same as in (a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Public Administration.

 

d. Higher National Diploma in Office Technology (5 Semesters)

Same as in (a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Office Technology And Management.

e. Higher National Diploma in Mathematics/Statistics (5 Semesters)

Same as in (2.1a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Mathematics/Statistics.

 

f. Higher National Diploma in Computer Science (5 Semesters)

Same as in (2.1a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Computer Science.

 

g. Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (5 Semesters)

Same as in (1.1a) above but qualification must be National Diploma in Library and Information Science.

 

In exceptional cases, ND holders with a pass (CGPA of 2.00-2.49) and two or more years of cognate experience in the specific field may be considered for admission into HND programmes.


OTHER PART-TIME PROGRAMMES

1

Diploma in Public Accounting & Auditing

Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, NECO/WASC/SSCE/O’L with four credits passes including English Language and Mathematics

5 Semesters

2

Diploma in Public Administration (DPA)

Candidates must have at least four credit passes which must include English and a pass in Mathematics

5 Semesters

3

Diploma in Purchasing and Supply

NECO/WASC/SSCE/GCE O’L with four credit including English and Mathematics

5 Semesters

4

Diploma in Law (DIL)

Public Officer not below the rank of Assistant Executive Officer with good NECO/WASC/SSCE/GCE O’L or Grade II Teacher’s Cert. with at least 4 credits and credit pass in English Language and a Pass in Mathematics

ND Special (NDS)

Diploma in Public Admin, Diploma in Accounting & Auditing: Candidates must have at least five credit passes which must include English and a pass in Mathematics

2 Semesters

 

1. METHOD OF APPLICATION

Application forms for the regular programmes are accessed online on payment of Six Thousand, Five Hundred Naira only (N6,500.00) in Zenith Bank and made payable to Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.

 

2. Application forms for the Part-Time programmes are also accessed On-line on payment of Seven Thousand Naira only (N7,000.00) in and made payable to Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.

 

3. IJMB A/Level leading to Two Hundred Level at the University: Candidate must have five credits at a sitting or two sitting to qualify for IJMB A/Level in Science and Social Science.

Application form for the IJMB A/Level can be accessed online on payment of Five Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N5,500) payable to Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.

 

4. Pre-ND Science: Application form for the Pre-ND Science Programme can be accessed online on payment of Five Thousand Five Hundred Naira only (N5,500) payable to Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.

 

5. NDS Part-Time in Public AdministrationCandidates must possess Diploma in Public Administration from a recognized Polytechnic, leading to one year ND Special.

Application form can be also be obtained online on payment of N7,000

 

6. NDS Part-Time In Accounting: Same as 5 above, but the candidate must possess Diploma in Accounting and Auditing leading to ND Special.

Application form: same as 5 above.
