The Acting Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has reiterated the commitment of the institution’s management to complete all inherited projects.

The Acting Rector made this known in Lokoja, on Thursday, when members of the State House of Assembly’s sub-committee on public accounts (technical) visited the institution to inspect and investigate the abandoned 1000 seat auditorium project.

He informed the visiting House Sub-committee that the uncompleted and abandoned projects, funded by TETFUND, will be reviewed by the management of the institution and come up with modalities for its completion.

He decried the spate of abandoned projects in the polytechnic, describing it as a dent on the institution’s image.

While leading the visiting team round the abandoned 1000 seat auditorium, the Acting Rector noted that the sad uncompleted state has hindered the desire of the institution to get improved funding for other laudable projects.

“Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello is determined to move Kogi State forward. We need the support of the House of Assembly to compliment the state government’s effort to make Kogi State Polytechnic an institution we will all be proud of,” he said.

Leader of the visiting team and Secretary of the House Sub-committee on Public Accounts, Agaji Moses stated that they were mandate to assess the abandoned project, inspect and investigate issues surrounding the state of completion.

He assured the Acting Rector that the Sub-committee will make recommendations to the Assembly on appropriate steps to take to fask track development in the polytechnic. 

The Acting Rector had earlier commissioned a committee to review all abandoned and uncompleted projects in the polytechnic.

The committee identified eight uncompleted projects; five classified as high impact projects (HIP) while the remaining three were classified as special intervention projects (SIP).

The Acting Rector had repeatedly warned contractors that the era of abandoned projects are over in the state-owned institution.
